BRUIN AWARDS

Bruins 7th Player Award - Tim Thomas was recognized as the Bruins 7th Player Award for performing above and beyond expectations.

The Eddie Shore Award, which recognizes the player who exhibits exceptional hustle and determination, was awarded to Tim Thomas. The recipient of the award is chosen by The Gallery Gods and was presented by Roger Naples, Henry Higgins, Richie Santangilo, Jimmy Williams, and John Healy.
This season Thomas is ranked 10th out of all goalies in the league in games played with 65, has earned 30 wins, and has a .906 save percentage.

This year’s Elizabeth Dufresne Trophy winner was Marc Savard. The award, voted on by the Boston Chapter of the Professional Hockey Writers Association, is given to the player who has been outstanding in home games. Presenting the award was Chapter Chairman Mike Loftus, of the Patriot Ledger.
In the team’s first 40 home games this season, Savard statistically has been the Bruins’ top point-scorer at home, recording 11 goals and 37 assists, totaling 48 points. In addition to his performance, Savard has also been serving as Assistant Captain.

The John P. Bucyk Award, honoring the player who has contributed the most to charitable and community endeavors, was awarded to Patrice Bergeron. The winner is selected by a panel of Bruins alumni and the Boston Bruins Community Relations department, and is presented by John Bucyk. In addition to the trophy, the Bruins will make a $1,000.00 donation in Bergeron’s name to the charity of his choice, The Home for Little Wanderers.
Begeron has always been active in the community, reaching out to various organizations such as Big Brothers Big Sisters, Children’s Hospital Boston, and the Make-A-Wish Foundation. This year, he initiated the “Patrice’s Pals” program in which underprivileged or ailing children watch the game from a luxury suite in the TD Banknorth Garden and visit the locker room afterwards to meet Patrice. Patrice has hosted over 150 children this season.

The recipients of the WBZ 3 Stars Award were: First Star- Marc Savard; Second Star- Tim Thomas; Third Star-Glen Murray. The award recognizes the players who have contributed the most to the team’s success this season. Jennifer Wood and Kathy Quinn of the Brain Injury Association of Massachusetts along with Dave Goucher presented the award.
Savard is the team’s leading scorer and 9th overall in the league, totaling 22-74=96. He is third in the league in assists. Tim Thomas has played in 65 games this season for the Bruins, earning a record of 30-28 with a .906 save percentage. Glen Murray was the Bruins’ leading goal-scorer with 28 on the season, despite being injured for the better part of the last two months. Glen Murray has also recorded 17 assists, good for 45 points overall.
